IT IS A TIME TO BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS WITH YOUR HEARING AIDS!

Roberta Singer

Remember when you first got your hearing aids and you had to be very cautious about not losing them due to inexperience with insertion? Life has come full circle! With the frequent use of face masks, extra caution must be taken when putting on and taking off a mask. The likelihood of jarring hearing aids out of place and then losing them is high, especially for masks worn looped over the ears. Pictured above, the blue mask loops behind your ears creating opportunity for dislodging the aids. Rather, find a mask with an elastic behind your head to keep it secure. Please keep this tip in mind when you are out and about. Stay healthy and protect your hearing aid investment!

SHOULD I INVEST IN THE NEWEST TECHNOLOGY?

Roberta Singer

There are no two people alike. Each individual has unique needs. Success with hearing aids depends on numerous factors, including interest and ability in dealing with technological advances. An experienced audiologist should determine the client’s comfort level with and enjoyment of cell phones, apps, bluetooth and gadgetry. Although the newest technology is a boon to some, it may be not worth the expense for those who do not avail themselves of it. The attentive audiologist will listen carefully and evaluate needs to ensure the best outcome!

Having trouble hearing your flat screen television? It is no wonder since the speakers are located in the rear of the TV. Bring the sound to the front using a sound bar and listen more easily!

When common sounds are bothersome:

Are you “baaa-ffled” as to why certain sounds are so irritating? You are not alone if there are noises that elicit an upsetting reaction. Reduced tolerance to everyday sounds that those around you are not bothered by may be causing anxiety. Therapy is possible. Seek help by a trained professional and throw away those ear plugs!

Notice the Noise Around You!

Roberta Singer

Did you know that noise exposure is second to aging as cause of permanent hearing loss? Think about this the next time you are holding a hair dryer near your ears or using a noisy vacuum cleaner in a small confined space. The louder a sound is and the closer it is to your ears, the more likely it will damage your hearing!
